Economy & Trade
Standard players can exchange tradeable items through the Grand Exchange and direct player trading. Ironman and Hardcore Ironman characters cannot use player trade or the Grand Exchange.
Grand Exchange
Buy and sell orders rest at a chosen price until compatible orders match. A guide price is context, not a guaranteed fill price; check visible market depth and quantity before committing a large order. Gold for buys and items for sells are reserved as required by the order.
Direct trade
Verify the other player, every item, every quantity, and the gold total on the final confirmation. Never rely on chat promises outside the confirmed trade window. Game items and gold have no cash value and should not be exchanged for real-world payment.
Shops, bank, and item value
NPC shops have defined inventories and prices. Bank organization does not change ownership, but clear categories make production chains and combat restocking safer. Keep rare progression inputs separate from routine materials, and inspect an item’s sources and uses before selling it.
A sound market routine
- Test a small quantity before placing a large order.
- Account for displayed fees and the difference between guide price and actual depth.
- Cancel stale orders when your plan changes.
- Keep emergency combat supplies outside speculative trades.
- Ironmen should use shops, drops, and skilling chains instead.
